UPDATE 4:00 PM PT -- The recently disclosed toxicology report reveals significant findings. The blood analysis indicated therapeutic levels of Oxycodone, a commonly prescribed opioid. Additionally, another opioid, Buprenorphine, used to manage opioid overuse, was detected. It is worth noting that opioids have a known side effect of causing constipation, which can potentially lead to bowel obstruction. In this unfortunate case, the cause of death was determined to be a strangulated small bowel due to adhesion formation following bariatric surgery (gastric bypass) conducted several years ago.
Furthermore, traces of Quetiapine, an antipsychotic medication, were also detected in the toxicology report.
The combination of opioids, constipation, and the pre-existing adhesion from the previous surgery resulted in a bowel obstruction, which ultimately led to the tragic outcome.
The L.A. County Coroner has determined that Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death was complications arising from a small bowel obstruction, as per an L.A. Medical Examiner document obtained by TMZ. The specific medical term for the condition is "sequelae of small bowel obstruction." It should be noted that this document does not provide the full report, and additional information, including toxicology results, is expected to be released when the complete report becomes available.
Contrary to earlier reports, no drug paraphernalia or narcotics were found at Lisa Marie's home when she was rushed to the hospital. Furthermore, her urine toxicology screen came back negative. The Coroner's report supports TMZ's previous story, which stated that Lisa Marie had undergone a cosmetic procedure a few months prior to her death and was subsequently prescribed opioids. The report indicates that she had a history of "overmedicating" and was prone to forgetting if she had taken her medications, sometimes resulting in accidental double-dosing. It is also mentioned that Lisa Marie had a history of alcohol and drug abuse.Since Lisa's death, there's been a lot of drama in the Presley household. Her mother, Priscilla, was in a war with Lisa's daughter, Riley Keough, over Lisa Marie's trust -- which has now been settled. Sources connected tell TMZ ... Lisa Marie's estate paid an undisclosed sum of money to Priscilla to settle the dispute. Our sources say it's in the millions.
Priscilla's attorney announced the settlement outside the courtroom after the hearing, saying ... "The families are happy. Everybody is happy and excited for the future."
